MORE THAN 13 INDICTED SO FAR IN DOMINICAN REPUBLIC DRUG KILLINGS

BANI.- Peravia province judge Suilda Brito Hernandez set bail for one
of two suspects implicated in the August 5 murders of seven Colombians
tied to drug trafficking, in a cane field in the town Paya, Bani
(south), bringing the number of people indicted in the case so far to
more than 13.

A RD$100,000 peso bond was set for Felix Terrero, of Barahona, whereas
Jose Luis Montas Vargas, a used car dealer from the capital, was sent
to San Cristobal's Najayo prison for 18 month, as the case unfolds.

Montas' attorney challenged judge Brito's ability to hear the case,
claiming the accusation doesn't consist of an arrest warrant, rather a
warrant to search the car business.

With the latest detentions the Justice Ministry in Bani has indicted
more than 13 people in the case called the Bani bloodbath, where
according to Police the killers of the seven Colombians took thousands
of dollars in cash and 1,200 kilos of cocaine in suitcases which they
loaded in two SUVs, allegedly provided by Montas.
