Coleman CARL RIGHT ABOUT DRUG WAR In his Jan. 4 "year-end" column ("Another old year limps into the past,") Carl Wernicke stated, "The drug 'war' is a disaster and ought to be ended." I could not agree more. Last summer I sent e-mails to the thee leading presidential candidates saying, "The USA is losing the 'War on Drugs,' what do you propose to do about this." John McCain and Hillary Clinton ignored me. Barack Obama did not answer my question, but e-mailed me asking for a contribution. We need to legalize and tax hard drugs and spend the income on drug abuse treatment programs. Keep beating the drums, Carl. - -- James C. Coleman (Pensacola) - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
