LOS MOLINOS MAN SHOT DEAD IN MARIJUANA THEFT

LOS MOLINOS -- A man is dead in what appears to be a marijuana theft
and home burglary.

Clarence Craig Puckett, 48, was killed and had several pounds of
marijuana stolen early Tuesday morning from his Wilson Street
residence, Tehama County Sheriff Clay Parker said. Parker did not
release the names of suspects but said "more than two" were involved.

Both Puckett and his wife had medical recommendations and were
growing several plants in their residence, Parker said. It did not
appear they were in compliance with state medical marijuana laws.

"What is suspected is someone knew they had the marijuana," Parker said.

Puckett's wife survived the incident and is being interviewed by
officers, according to a Tehama County Sheriff's Office press
release. The California Department of Justice has been called in to
process forensic evidence.

No further information was available Tuesday afternoon.

Anyone with information regarding the homicide has been requested to
contact detective Richard Knox at 529-7920.
