This is in reaction to an influx of medical marijuana dispensaries seeking business licenses throughout Summit County and the rest of the state. "There was a lot of discussion," said Mayor Barbara Davis. She said a few council members wanted to see what the state comes up with first before making a final decision, but the majority of Dillon's council said they wanted to move forward, as they did not approve of dispensaries within town limits. Dillon wanted to make sure federal laws are upheld throughout any business practice, Davis said. According to town manager Devin Granbery, the ordinance will be introduced to council at the Dec. 1 town meeting. If it's OK'd then, the ordinance could be approved after a public hearing Dec. 15. Dillon's town council tentatively said no to marijuana dispensaries within the town at its Nov. 3 meeting, citing concerns about abuse, need and lack of state regulations as reasons for not moving forward on approving regulations. The Town of Dillon currently has a moratorium on medical marijuana dispensaries to expire on Feb. 13. Any action taken to officially bar dispensaries, or to come up with a new set of regulations, will take place before that date. Regulations for dispensaries have been approved in Silverthorne, Frisco and Breckenridge. - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
