DRUG SECTION 'OVERWHELMED' - POLICE CHIEF

Langley RCMP are looking into billing property owners for their costs
to dismantle a grow-op, after officers are putting in overtime to deal
with the proliferation of B.C. Bud.

"Our drug section is overwhelmed and members are coming in on their
days off to take down grow-ops," said Supt. Derek Cooke at Monday
night's Township council meeting. He was there to give the police
quarterly report.

"We have the legislation to bill back property owners for our time, so
we will be looking into that."

In the first week of December, the drug section seized thousands of
pot plants at various locations, including several new Willoughby
homes and in semi-trailers housed in warehouses in Port Kells and Aldergrove.

One of the trailers the pot had been grown in even read: "Grow In the
Great Indoors." In total, five trailers have been seized in the last
month.
