PRAISE FOR NEEDLE PLAN

Kudos to the Downtown Victoria Business Association for working with
AIDS Vancouver Island to address a social issue. All downtown
businesses and residents should get on board with the needle disposal
kit program. As a community, it is the responsibility of all of us to
make our city a better place.

That said, it must always be remembered that fixed-site needle
exchanges and safe consumption sites are proven to decrease the number
of dirty needles left out in public. But until the Vancouver Island
Health Authority and Victoria council commit to make these necessary
health services a reality, at least someone is doing something
productive and proactive.
