THE PROBLEM WITH MEDICAL MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES

Your story on the possible reversal of the Dillon ordinance dealing
with prompts this letter. I would like the council to take note of
the following facts. First, teenage use (of marijuana) actually
increased in 2009 after going down for several years. Some studies
indicate the various medical laws in various states are to blame.
Secondly, while Summit County is busy promoting the use of medical ,
the L.A. City Council, which now has a serious problem on its hands
with more than 1,000 pot shops in the metro area, is working on an
ordinance that will shut down more than 90 percent of those establishments.

Finally, we are now told that in Colorado, more than three-quarters
of all the medical prescriptions are being written by a handful of
doctors who are no longer licensed to engage in a full practice and
have limited prescription writing ability. I would only say to Summit
County elected officials: Wake up!
