He said riding causes more than 100 deaths a year, compared to around 30 from ecstasy. But his comments have been discredited after it emerged only 10 riders die a year. The professor heads the Home Office's Advisory Council on the Misuse of Drugs, which wants ecstasy downgraded to class B. David Raynes, of the National Drug Prevention Alliance, says he must quit.
