RENTAL PROGRAMS TARGETS GROW-OPS

Consider it peace of mind for landlords worried their property will
be converted into a marijuana grow-op.

Richmond Mounties and the City of Richmond have designed a new
program that aims to reduce criminal activity and marijuana grow-ops
from being set up in rental properties.

Richmond RCMP Cpl. Jennifer Pound said property managers and owners
can make a difference in helping to maintain safer neighbourhoods by
employing several simple techniques that hold the promise of
eliminating problem tenants from renting a property.

To register for the program, landlords must pick up an information
package at South Arm Community Centre's police station, 8880 Williams
Rd.. The package will include a registration form, a copy of the
residential tenancy agreement, the residential tenancy act, tips for
landlords and property managers, as well as applicant screening
techniques and tell-tale signs of a marijuana grow-op.
