ALCOHOL AND ICE ARE THE MAJOR DRUG THREATS TO MAUI

Wonder why there is more violence on Maui? Wonder why crime is up?
Ever see those bumper stickers saying "Thanks to green harvest our
island is on ice"?

The increase in violence and crime is due to alcohol and crystal meth
use, not marijuana. Marijuana is not in the same class as these hard
drugs. It is not the "gateway drug." The dangers of marijuana are that
one might fall asleep on the couch or say something senseless.

What is senseless is that authorities spend much of their time and our
money busting harmless, otherwise law-abiding and, many times,
contributing citizens - time and money that would be better spent
enforcing sensible laws such as keeping intoxicated people off of our
highways.

If people would educate themselves and be responsible, there would be
no need for laws that take away the rights of all citizens because of
a few bad apples.

Get with the times, people. "Reefer Madness" was a propaganda
film.
