For me, hard drugs and their illegal distribution and sale in Medicine Hat is a conundrum. Who is the buyer? As a retired manufacturing executive, I understand all aspects of a "normal business" including how extremely careful one must be if manufacturing and marketing a legitimate food or drug product. Before they hit their market, illegal hard drugs pass through a chain of handlers, all strictly profit motivated, with no regard for hygiene or product safety. We're talking about a product that is manufactured on the sneak, distributed on the sneak, sold on the sneak, bought on the sneak and used on the sneak. The end users willingly and unbelievably buy an expensive product that is to be taken into their bodies with no idea of where the stuff has been. Who is buying this dirty, contaminated trash? Is the buyer the same person who, in the supermarket, demands all pharmaceuticals have tight unbroken seals applied at the health inspected factory then later, from some street person, buys life altering hallucinogens, in themselves very dangerous, but astonishingly caring nothing about total lack of product standards, safety or hygiene? They have absolutely no idea what in fact they have bought and are about to put into their bodies. What happens? Does the drug dealer cast a spell that turns normally sane people into zombies? Hey, maybe that's it - that would certainly explain a lot. Alright, so there's a market for these dirty drugs but who are the buying zombies? Are there that many really stupid folks in the Hat? Aren't they informed? Do friends recruit and train them? Wow, some friends! I can't for the life of me understand how our retired farmer, pensioner-infested village financially supports this kind of sleazy, underground, slime product business. And that is my conundrum: Who are the many hundreds of dimwitted buyers that are keeping the business afloat? Randy Young Medicine Hat - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
