DILLON SAYS 'WHOA!' TO MARIJUANA DISPENSARIES

Town Has 90 Days to Create Zoning Regulations for Budding Health Care
Industry

DILLON - To determine how to regulate the burgeoning medical marijuana
industry, Dillon approved its 90-day moratorium on medical marijuana
dispensaries Tuesday. Now all four towns - Frisco, Silverthorne,
Breckenridge and Dillon - have temporary holds on approving business
licenses for dispensaries while zoning regulations are drafted. Dillon
council members and staff are currently leaning toward limiting where
such a business could open.

"The reason why we did the moratorium is that we really need time to
examine this and to figure out the best area of town to place these
marijuana dispensaries," said Mayor Barbara Davis.

Interest in opening dispensaries in the area has grown recently, with
two applications - one in Frisco and one in Silverthorne - already
approved.

According to Dillon's town planner Bev Kaiser, "We've had some
inquiries, but there's been no business licenses."
