The juicy articles you have given us lately focus on the extremely
ugly aspects of the "drug war": lots of violence and dead people. But
virtually nothing is said about the only real solution to this
situation. As a society, we must remove the enormous profits that
sustain the illicit drug business. Without these disgusting profits,
the situation would change virtually overnight. How do we do this?
Simple. Legalize all aspects of the illicit drug business and develop
clear and enforceable regulations for the production and distribution
of these substances. Then, with the huge profits the government would
receive, we could develop extensive educational and treatment programs
for all of our citizens, especially our youth.

Believe me, this will work. Mexico is already moving in this direction
and several European countries are way ahead of us. Let's get with it,
