OK WITH POT STORY

Unlike Stacey Mickelsen's perspective ("Pot story not front-page
news," letters, Sept. 16), the overwhelming majority (according to
election results) of Summit County citizens, myself included, was not
embarrassed and/or outraged by Monday's (Sept. 14) front page story
titled "Summit County Pot Dispensary Blossoms In First Month."

On the contrary, the opening and subsequent news of Summit County's
first cannabis dispensary is relevant and historical information. I
disagree that this pertinent news article was "promoting" "drugs" to
minors.

Currently in American history and in Colorado specifically, the system
in place for people, including sick citizens, to acquire cannabis is
less than perfect, due to prohibitionists, and government's "Reefer
Madness" agenda. In much of America where prohibitionists wield more
control, the system is worse. Ideally, citizens wouldn't pay yearly
extortion money to government to use cannabis, but hey, that is the
current process in Colorado for responsible adults to get around the
Stacey Mickelsens of the world. Because nobody, including the devil is
going to stop people from using the beneficial God-given plant.

Mickelsen may also be mistaken about the way we want to portray Summit
County to vacationers during these slow economic times. Families
looking for a beautiful winter travel destination who've seen that
front page story may feel more comfortable returning to Colorado and
avoid and reject places like Utah.

If America's history with alcohol prohibition is any indication, We
may even witness Utah ski resorts and towns enacting laws to do the
same so they don't lose lose lose.
