DEALERS DELIGHTED

Re: "Police crackdowns mean bad business for drug market," (Jan. 4).

On the contrary, police crackdowns ensure business for the drug
market. How? Many of the wildly profitable drugs out there cost
pennies to produce and sell for a thousandfold more, with no taxes or
safety controls. Whenever one, or 20 dealers are removed, 25 move in,
sometimes "competing" for territory. I bet those still dealing in
secret were making massive profits due to all the busts. "Sorry dude,
supply is tight, its twice as expensive."
