WORKSHOP TARGETS ECSTASY

A worst-case scenario come true for a mother whose daughter died of a
drug overdose is at the heart of a workshop next week.

The event is being held Thursday, Jan. 14, at the ADSS
Auditorium.

Co-sponsored by the RCMP and District Parent Advisory Council, Project
E Aware aims to educate parents and community stakeholders of the
dangers of the drug Ecstasy.

The keynote speaker for the event is Catherine Spanevello, whose
daughter Erin died at age 21 from cardiac and respiratory failure
induced by a lethal cocktail of ecstasy and the date rape drug GHB.

Also speaking will be RCMP Cpl. Dave Cusson, Const. Theresa Thompson
and Const. Jean Bouchard. Admission is free, and the event is from 7-9
p.m.
