TEEN DRUG TRAFFICKER LINKED TO TWO DEATHS GETS PROBATION

A teen who sold ecstasy to two girls who later died was placed on
probation for two years Friday for drug trafficking, Global News says.

The 17-year-old cannot be named under the provisions of the Youth
Criminal Justice Act.

Trinity Bird, 15, and Leah House, 14, became ill after taking several
ecstasy pills each at a celebration on the Paul Band First Nation in
March 2009. Both of the girls died within days.

The teen who sold them the drugs initially pleaded not guilty to
drug-trafficking charges, but changed his plea midway through his
trial in September. A charge of criminal negligence causing death had
previously been stayed.
