The city and RCMP will host the workshop that provides education on identifying the warning signs of grow-ops and meth labs. Last November, the city adopted Controlled Substance Property Remediation Bylaw No. 1953-2009. Its purpose is to help ensure that grow-ops and clandestine drug labs are not in the community. The Feb. 17 informational workshop takes place downstairs at city hall. Police have conducted a number of raids on residences in town and in Thornhill in the past several years, seizing marijuana plans and lab equipment they believe was being used to make illegal drugs. The challenge has been to determine who will assume fire department and other costs that may arise as a result of a raid. - --- MAP posted-by: Jo-D
