Police seized more than 23,000 marijuana plants at 14 locations in the north end of the city this week in an operation that targeted drug dealers linked to Asian criminal organizations. Approximately 15,500 plants were found at one grow-op, the largest single haul in Montreal police history, Constable Olivier Lapointe said. The plants were flourishing in the same building that housed the offices of Maria Mourani, Bloc Quebecois MP for the riding of Ahuntsic. Ms. Mourani contacted police after her staff complained of the strong odours coming from the building's upper floors. Thirteen men have been arrested as a result of the raids, and face charges of marijuana cultivation and possession for the purpose of trafficking. - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
