LAUGHABLE COMMENT

After reading the article "Medicinal grow op not acceptable in Port
Hope" (Northumberland Today, March 31) and having been at the Council
meeting that addressed this issue I am reminded of a comment that I
put to Mayor Thompson some years ago. But first I must note that the
mayor states in regards to the "grow op" that "people are concerned
about image, safety and security and economic values to our
community", a laughable comment in the face of Port Hopes nuclear woes.

The comment that was put to the mayor, "You can tell a great deal
about a community by the way that they care for their sick, disabled
and elderly."
