WAR WITHOUT END

It has been 30 years since Nixon declared his war on drugs with no end
in sight (Thousands Dead, Billions Of Dollars Spent, No Regrets - May
29). Despite seizing mega-tons of cocaine and marijuana, heroin by the
kilo and thousands of weapons, they are all renewable resources
produced to feed an insatiable demand. Without adapting a demand
reduction strategy on an international level, no quantity of troops
and police will defeat the cartels. History has proven attempting a
behavioural change by legislating a concept of morality has been futile.
