GET FACTS ON POT

The front-page article on May 20 regarding legalizing  marijuana 
stated results of a poll. I question the  validity of this poll and 
the article.

I have done some research and polling of my own about  this topic and 
found folks mixed up about the issue  (medical marijuana and the 
current issue of legalizing  marijuana).

Most people are in favor of medical marijuana in cancer  treatment, 
easing pain, treating eating disorders by  stimulating appetite, and 
helping with other health  needs.

After educating folks about the public health and  safety issues 
regarding legalizing marijuana, they tend  to change their minds. 
This education also includes the  medical and physical health issues 
to the individual  and legal issues. Let's not forget the 
ramifications of passing such a law regarding our youth.

My hope is the voters get the facts about this issue  and not get 
mixed up thinking it is about medical  marijuana, which is already a 
law on the books and is  causing all kinds of problems for law 
enforcement in  regard to abuses of the law.

Get the facts; it is not just about tax revenues, it's  about the 
health and welfare of our communities.
