TWO SENTENCES

Two men are sentenced to prison - one for murdering another human
being and one for having weapons and drugs ("Man given 19 years on
drug charges;" "Man gets 3 years in slaying plea," Law and Order, June
23).

At first glance these sentences seem reasonably fair for the crimes
committed. Then one realizes that the murderer received the 3-year
sentence and the dealer received the 19-year sentence.

I guess using a gun to murder "an unarmed man because of a beef over
stolen drugs" isn't quite as bad as having and selling the gun.

There seems to be something wrong with this picture.
