EASY WRITER: BE WARY OF REEFER MADNESS

Editor, the Times:

Embarrassing isn't it, when Canadians start imitating their southern 
neighbours? (APD sorry for armed raid on home of 'upstanding 
citizens', Times, July 9).

A decade ago when Canada let the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration 
spread its claws into your nation's policy decisions, many of us 
active in drug policy reform predicted chaos would ensue. Indeed it has.

Because officers "smelled" cannabis they surround a home with guns 
drawn, knowing it's a home with no criminals? Wow. Over 70 years 
later and reefer madness is still alive and kicking.

How does it feel being the 51st state in the Union?
