IF YOU BUILD IT, THEY WILL COME

Regarding the scheme to create a 600,000-square-foot marijuana growing
operation at the Chico airport: A conservative estimate is $100
million worth of marijuana produced each year. That's $2 million a
week.

If by some miracle the "grow" could be made compliant with California
law, not one purple hair of the tiniest bud would be legal under
federal law.

If this pipe dream ever takes off, the Chico economy will benefit
primarily from feeding, housing and entertaining hundreds of federal
agents, who will descend upon the airport like bluebottle flies drawn
to the carcass of a road-kill deer.
