For more than 70 years the government has tried to rid the use of cannabis, and, just like alcohol prohibition, cannabis prohibition has failed miserably. If cannabis were legal, it would have age and usage restrictions just like alcohol and tobacco. It also would be taxed like those substances. Since excise taxes on alcohol and tobacco help government budgets, perhaps taxing and regulating the cannabis market will be utilized soon to help in these hard economic times.
