OREGON FREEDOMS SHOULD INCLUDE BEING ALLOWED TO GROW HEMP

Brian Hines hit the bull's eye with his Nov. 25 letter, "Oregon is
No. 1 in nation in personal freedom," describing freedom in Oregon,
including foreseeing cannabis (marijuana) being legalized in the
future. However, the pioneering land use laws which ensure farmers
will be able to continue freely raising crops could go further.
Communist Chinese farmers are allowed to grow hemp, but free American
farmers may not. Oregon needs to work on that one.

It's time to re-introduce hemp as a component of American agriculture
and Oregon may be one of the first states to allow its farmers the
freedom to do so.
