Carl Anderson said he now has more than 50 people buying home-grown marijuana through his web site, www.ilikecannabis.ca. The Westsyde resident told The Daily News he set up the club earlier this year in order to give people who need medical marijuana the opportunity to get quality product in a safe, cost-effective way. He sells six different stains of marijuana for about $175 an ounce. Ninety per cent of those who want to buy from him already have been approved by Health Canada to use marijuana for medical purposes, Anderson said. He only sells marijuana to people who have a prescription from a doctor. Anderson said he has tried to contact local authorities but he has not been successful. Despite that, he is not worried he will run afoul of the law. "So far, so good," he said. "I don't expect any problems. I am following all the guidelines. I'm doing the right thing, I think." Kamloops RCMP Supt. Yves Lacasse said the local detachment is not prepared to ignore Anderson's club or condone its activity. "If he wants to sell pot legally, I cannot give him that authority," Lacasse said. "I cannot work collaboratively with drug dealers." The RCMP has sought a legal opinion and is convinced that if Anderson is selling marijuana, he is breaking Canada's drug laws. So, will RCMP one day soon show at Anderson's house armed with search warrants? "I will not discuss police operations via the media. It is not for us to discuss publicly. We are aware of Mr. Anderson's activity, and I will leave it at that," Lacasse said. - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
