Once the ordinance is completed, the moratorium will end, said township Supervisor Chad Moody. The only dispensary in Homer Township is Twinn Bridges Compassion Club, 559 E. Isabella Road. "I do appreciate you guys letting us stay in the community," said owner Chris Gee. "I'm glad you did (establish the moratorium) because I have more people coming in the door asking how I did this than actually anything else." This is Gee's second store; the first one is in Cadillac, he said. The township should look at Midland's ordinance, Gee said. Many municipalities are looking at neighboring areas for their codes to save on legal costs. The township also placed moratoriums on wind energy conversion systems and solar installations. The wind energy conversion moratorium does not apply to items covered by the existing windmill ordinance, Moody said. The solar moratorium will affect all solar installations -- ground, roof and residential. "Hopefully we'll be able to have a public hearing on (solar) in May... as well as wind," said planning commission chairperson Sandy Simmons. The planning commission is also working on changes to the noise, junk yard and anti-nudity ordinances, Simmons said. In other news, the township also paid $28,261 for local residents to use the Grace A. Dow Memorial Library, 1710 W. Saint Andrews Road. "It pays our fees to the library so Homer Township residents can use it without additional fees," Moody said. - --- MAP posted-by: Richard Lake
