MEDICAL MARIJUANA

An article on June 24 stated that Nevada County officials are one 
step away from banning the legal pot dispensaries in this county.

People have a wide range of feelings about "pot." The element that 
was not considered is that legal medical marijuana is prescribed by 
licensed physicians for many positive reasons for serious conditions 
and pain reduction such as cancer, glaucoma and multiple sclerosis. 
The mind-body connection shows pain reduction facilitates feeling 
better and gives hope.

Illness creates and intensifies depression which exacerbates the 
physical illness. Why should patients have to travel out of the 
county to fill a doctor's prescription? Marijuana does not contain 
the addictive nicotine in cigarettes or is as dangerous as alcohol, 
or have side effects that could cause a worse condition. Please let 
Nevada County hear your voice on this issue.
