Contact: http://dailygleaner.canadaeast.com/ Details: http://www.mapinc.org/media/3857 RCMP ASK FOR HELP TO WEED OUT GROW OPS The RCMP and Crime Stoppers are asking the public to be on the lookout for outdoor marijuana grow operations on public land in New Brunswick. The police issued a news release asking the public to be vigilant and report any suspicious activities. "Marijuana growers plant marijuana on their own property, but they also often use Crown land in an attempt to avoid prosecution," stated the release. "Marijuana plants are usually grown in clumps in large areas and are sometimes surrounded by chicken wire to prevent damage from animals. "Other vegetation is often used to camouflage the marijuana plants and a water supply is usually nearby." The law enforcement groups say marijuana growers often use ATVs and walking trails to get to their crops. Unsuspecting people have been known to locate marijuana grow ops simply by accident or by recognizing the "skunk-like" order that marijuana plants produce, said the RCMP. Anyone with information concerning an outdoor marijuana grow operation can call N.B. Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), or visit www.crimenb.ca. If your information leads to an arrest, you could qualify for a cash award of up to $2,000. - --- MAP posted-by: Richard R Smith Jr.
