ANTI-DRUG LOBBY CAN LEARN FROM PROHIBITIONS FALLOUT

There has been a lot of controversy recently about the legalization of
marijuana. I have never used marijuana and don't condone its use for
anything but medical purposes. And I have been opposed to the
legalization of it all my life, and I am now a senior citizen.

However, I recently watched a three-part documentary on the
prohibition of alcohol in the U.S. As I saw what happened there when
prohibition came in, I see almost the same occurrences here in Canada
- -- and other countries -- regarding the prohibition of marijuana and
other drugs. As far as I can see, we would be a lot better off with
the legalization and control of these drugs.

For those who oppose the legalization of these drugs, I suggest they
take a close look at the prohibition era in the U.S. and see what
happened before, during and after prohibition.

I concur with the former mayors of Vancouver and urge the people in
control to seriously consider legalizing, regulating and taxing marijuana.
