POLICE SHOULD JUST DO THEIR JOB

Re: Police oppose safe injection sites, Jan. 12

Sadly, the opinion of the police force will ultimately trump the hard
data provided by researchers who specialize in the addiction field.
I'd like to remind people that the police force's job is to enforce
the law, not to argue for or against it, or the message it sends to
the public. An interesting side note, the police trust anecdotal
evidence when it comes from other cops, but dismiss anecdotal evidence
for the medicinal use of certain illegal drugs when it comes from
doctors. The police are public servants, not lobbyists or politicians.
So they should stop waxing intellectual about things outside of their
range of expertise and stick to doing their job as mandated by the
people.
