JUDGE TOSSES SACRAMENTO COLLECTIVE'S SUIT CHALLENGING FEDERAL POT CRACKDOWN

A federal judge has tossed a lawsuit filed by a Sacramento medical
marijuana collective that had challenged a federal crackdown on pot
dispensaries operating legally under state law.

The Sacramento Nonprofit Collective sued in November after the U.S.
Attorney's Office in Sacramento sent a letter to the collective and
its landlord warning that growing and selling marijuana violated
federal laws.

The Sacramento Nonprofit Collective, which had been doing business as
El Camino Wellness Center, had argued that the warning violated the
group's constitutional rights.

Federal Judge Garland E. Burrell dismissed the suit today, saying in
his ruling the collective's allegations were moot since previous court
decisions have mandated federal laws can be enforced even if they run
counter to state's medical marijuana laws.

The suit was one of four related cases pending in federal court filed
after the crackdown.
