Lisa Mckinnon, 22, daughter of Supt. Bill Mckinnon, has been charged with drug trafficking after being arrested this week, allegedly in possession of crack and heroin. Police say she was arrested Tuesday during an alleged illegal drug transaction along with an unidentified 19-yearold woman, in Kelowna. The news of Lisa's arrest on Tuesday shocked and disappointed Supt. Mckinnon and his wife, also an RCMP member, according to Insp. Rick Flewelling. Flewelling said Kelowna RCMP investigators were targeting a dial-a-dope operation in February when they identified Lisa Mckinnon was a suspect. Once they made the relationship connection between a drug dealing suspect and their chief, the investigators took steps to insure the integrity of the investigation, police say. Supt. Mckinnon was not informed that his daughter was a suspect, played no role in the investigation and was purposefully kept in the dark until she was charged this week, Flewelling said. "Nobody is immune for drugs," Flewelling said to Castanet, in a local media interview. "Here is a case in point, where you've got somebody who is a public figure, a chief of police who is facing the same trials and tribulations as anyone else. To be honest, my heart goes out to him." - --- MAP posted-by: Richard R Smith Jr.
