STEP UP WAR ON DEALERS, DON'T BECOME ONE

"God damn the pusher man!" That's Steppenwolf on drug dealers.

We all know how dangerous drugs are. All you have to do is look into
the hollow stares of the heroin addicted. Tombstones in their eyes.
But instead of getting real help, addicts are being enabled by
mindless bureaucrats.

There's a growing movement underway to turn provincial governments
into the biggest drug pushers of them all. Vancouver's Insite heroin
shooting gallery started all of this, giving free syringes to junkies,
along with a quiet place to inject poison into their veins.

When Canada's top court gave the thumbs-up to Insite's assisted
suicide, we warned you that the movement would not stop until there's
a franchise on every other street corner in Canada. Well, guess what?
Our worst fears are coming true.

Pointy headed researchers at St. Michael's Hospital in downtown
Toronto, the arrhythmic heart of junkie land, have tabled their
proposal to bring heroin shooting galleries to the province of Ontario.

They're dealing out the usual arguments, that it would make addiction
safer for junkies by stopping the spread of infectious disease. Folks,
it's not naive to ask the obvious question: If you want to help
addicts, shouldn't we step up the war on drug dealers, instead of
becoming one? It's like giving an alcoholic a 40 of vodka and a free
car.

Before Ontario's election, Premier Dad gave the Toronto Sun's
editorial board a terse answer on the issue of heroin shooting
galleries. No way, not going to happen, he told us. But his most
recent response to the same question is about as evasive as a
cockroach caught under a spotlight.

The people of Ontario should be very nervous. Premier Dad loves to
show how much he cares, jumping into just about any trendy cause with
both feet without looking before he leaps. Like the green energy initiative.

Ontario Health Minister Deb Matthews released a statement declaring
that she's not on board - yet. But mark my words, there's a real risk
that heroin shooting galleries will come to Ontario. This report isn't
being ignored like some silly Don Drummond spending cut report.

And these enablers are shoving hard to send us over the edge. Step
one, shooting galleries in every city in Canada, writing off a human
life as being completely hopeless, so long as they don't suffer.

But they wouldn't stop there. Step two in their junkie safety program
is to give out free high-grade drugs. Don't believe me? Dr. Julio
Montaner, clinical director of the B.C. Centre for Excellence in
HIV/AIDS, is on the record with that dime bag of advice, because it's
safer to use government-approved, high-grade heroin. Many of you
probably have a problem with loafers coasting on welfare with your tax
dollars. How do you feel about your hard-earned tax dollars paying for
free high-grade heroin for junkies?

It's time to push back against the dopeheads who want to turn your
government into a provincial pusher.

It's time to escalate the war on drugs to help the addicts and take
those tombstones out of their eyes. It's Canadian common sense.
