MARIJUANA PROHIBITION IS UNDER ATTACK

The abrupt manner in which Prime Minister Harper dismisses
recommendations by learned experts regarding the drug trade is total
arrogance.

I am referring to the many experts and former politicians of all
stripes who suggest correctly that the war on drugs and particularly
marijuana is a failure.

Not only is the war on drugs proving itself a futile effort but is
responsible for promoting the growth of the criminal element. Surely
this is a replay of Al Capone and the criminal element that became
wealthy back in the days of alcohol prohibition.

It is suggested that the status quo be maintained by those with vested
financial interests who grow rich on the illegal trade of drugs.

As so many experts suggest, Canada should dispense drugs legally which
would aid the burden on the taxpayer and diminish the illegal
promotion of these products.
