NO ON MEASURE D

A paid ad in the Wednesday Record-Bee read: "Stop the Insanity
Regulate Now." The photo is captioned: "Police find 2000 to 3000
marijuana plants." It also states (accurately) "Measure D places
limits of 84 plants on parcels of seven acres or more". The obvious
fact is measure D will not stop large illegal grows. These growers
are not concerned with laws and regulations, and will continue these
grows that are already illegal under current law.

The only solution is to legalize pot and treat it as tobacco and
alcohol are now. The war on pot is a failure and the net effect is
very negative. The statement has been made that Measure D would be a
step in the direction toward legalization. Perhaps. I would offer
that by allowing pot to be grown to the degree allowed by Measure D,
Lake County would become a magnet for those that would exploit the
regulations for pure profit, with all the negative factors that would bring.

Instead of stopping the insanity I believe it would make things crazier.
