TIME TO LEGALIZE MARIJUANA

To the editor:

re: 'Medical marijuana users speak out following raid,' Friday, Sept
28 edition.

If raiding medical marijuana plantations, or any marijuana
plantations for that matter, is what the police are spending their
time and our money on, then it's time to seriously consider lay-offs.

If the police cannot find crimes to address that actually involve a
victim, then their services are no longer necessary. We just can't
afford to have them engage in these little make-work projects that do
absolutely nothing for anyone anymore.

As well, I would request that they, as a gesture of good faith to
those who pay their wages and expenses, include with the value of the
seized plants the overall cost of their raid.

Telling us the value of the plants is fairly meaningless to us, but I
would like to know what was spent on such stupidity.

This archaic war on drugs is our government's greatest social policy
failure within the last 50 years and enough is enough. Others may fee
that this is not their concern. If they're taxpayers, they couldn't
be more wrong.

Such nonsense affects us all, in a number of ways, and it's time
people started to speak out.

The opposite of good is not evil. It's complacency.
