Arnold MARIJUANA IS SAFER THAN TOBACCO OR ALCOHOL The May 6 Daily Camera article on the risks marijuana poses to young people, completely omitted other important information on youth risk behaviors. We know that nicotine is a substance more addicting than marijuana; more addicting, even, than some "hard" drugs. We know that alcohol and its metabolite, acetaldehyde, are carcinogenic, brain-destroying and liver-destroying. I have relatives and friends who have lost their health or lives to tobacco and/or alcohol. Then why did the Daily Camera publish a single-focus article on marijuana, when tobacco and nicotine pose greater risks than marijuana? I am aware that the county's representative for the Youth Risk Behavior Survey, also discussed tobacco and alcohol when interviewed by the Daily Camera reporter. Could it be that the Daily Camera is afraid of insulting the alcohol cartel (LiquorMart, Hazel's, et al) which advertises in their paper? EDWARD R. ARNOLD Boulder - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
