A HEALTH ISSUE

By enumerating a list of health problems caused by consuming
marijuana, Naomi Lakritz makes the clear case for legalization. The
issues she describes are present today even under our current
practice of near-prohibition and criminalization of cannabis. What
better way to deal with health concerns than to legalize it, regulate
it, inspect its production, and put reasonable limits on
accessibility and consumption? We have already done this for tobacco
and alcohol. Last I checked, no one is concerned anymore about going
blind from moonshine.

Marijuana is consumed today despite our treatment of it as a legal
issue. Let's acknowledge pot is here to stay, and deal with it like
the health issue it is.
