POT WAR ISN'T ABOUT POLLUTION

Regarding the Thursday article by Roger Aylworth on pot garden
pollution, Assemblyman Dan Logue is quoted as saying it's not a
Proposition 215 issue, it is an environmental issue. I believe the
real issue here is hate. It appears that the same folks that hated
the hippies now hate the pot growers. Furthermore, it seems that some
of this crowd have money enough to get "their man" running the county
supervisors. Yes, I believe that chemicals are being used, and that
they are running off into the creeks. The worst damage being done,
though, would be to those smoking these chemicals with their "medicine."

So, the Central Valley Regional Quality Control Board will now save
those downstream water users from this pollution? Give me a break.
Big agriculture has been getting a pass forever on chemical runoff
from our farms. The same chemicals that the railroads were fined a
vast amount of dollars for accidentally spilling into the Sacramento
River (Cantara Loop spill) routinely run off from our rice farms.

No, I do not believe that Supervisor Bill Connelly is out to stop
aquatic pollution to those downstream of Butte County. I think he
wants to use that as an excuse to continue the war against cannabis
cultivation, at the service of the haters that finance his political campaigns.

I really would like to see the problems of drug use and of pollution
be solved, but honestly, without deceit.
