Shelton and Ansonia have already imposed moratoriums to study how their zoning regulations fit in with the state law for marijuana dispensing facilities. In Monroe, a proposal has been made to put a marijuana production facility at a vacant industrial building. William Agresta, the planning and zoning administrator for Monroe, told the Connecticut Post that the town is sorting out the state law. "What we are looking for is time to sort out the new state law on this and decide whether this is something we want to allow in Monroe, and if so, what the right zone for something like this is," Agresta said. The state General Assembly's Regulation Review Committee approved regulations in August spelling out details of a licensing system for marijuana producers and dispensaries. The proposal for Monroe was submitted by chiropractor Rod Deraney, who has experience growing medical marijuana in California. The proposal calls for a medical marijuana growing facility in an industrial zone where a toy manufacturer used to operate a distribution center. - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
