500 COUNTY SIGNATURES GATHERED IN SUPPORT OF MARIJUANA LEGISLATION

While the medical marijuana issue did not make it on the ballot for
this year's election, Don Keeney is hoping it will make it onto the
2014 election. Keeney said he is hoping the issue gets approved to
help those with medical issues. A total of 385,252 signatures is
needed from 44 counties in order for it to be on the ballot next fall.
Of the 645 signatures needed in Hocking County, 500 have been
gathered. William and Jennifer Overley of New Straitsville stopped on
East Front Street Tuesday to sign the petition. Although William is
not a registered voter, he is in favor of medical marijuana. "Ohio
will benefit so much from this when it passes," William said. "The
taxes alone from this will be over $1 million per year."
