LEGISLATORS GOING TOO FAR ON POT REGULATION

Americans believe that sugar is more harmful than marijuana,
according to a survey from NBC and the Wall Street Journal. Despite
these views, California wants to regulate the marijuana industry. Not
all regulation is bad, and the industry could use some quality
controls to protect consumers. California legislators are going
beyond consumer protections.

The legislators should legalize marijuana for all Californians and
stop treating it like a medicine or as bad as alcohol. According to
www.druglibrary. org, "in at least 10,000 years of human consumption,
there have been no documented deaths as a result of marijuana
overdose." The same cannot be said for alcohol. If the legislators
feel that they need to crack down on marijuana then they should look
at alcohol first. Bring back the 18th Amendment for California and
leave the exception for doctors to prescribe medicinal alcohol for
your "toothache."
