Leaders at the Zink Place facility said the company will soon introduce Weedhire.com, a career website that specifically targets employment within the legal cannabis industry. The site will function as an online portal for employers in the marijuana business to post job listings and job seekers to send in resumes. AnythingIT is aiming to fill industry demands that will create employment for accountants, lawyers, inventory management, marketing, cultivators and lab technicians. "Legalized marijuana will create tens of thousands of new jobs across the career spectrum, as thousands of companies are being created all of whom will require staffing and HR help. Unlike the tech boom of the 1990's the cannabis industry is attracting individuals from all sectors and age groups," COO Vlad Stelmak said in a statement. Weedhire.com, which is expected to go live in May, will compete with other part-time and full-time marijuana employment sites like THCjobs.com. AnythingIT said the site is a way to capitalize on the growing marijuana market without selling or manufacturing the plant, where it is still illegal for recreational use in New Jersey. "Our mission is to become the leading provider of specialized employment as well as help our clients hire the most qualified individuals and to help those individuals find the best job opportunities in the legal marijuana industry," stated CEO David Bernstein in a press release. New Jersey is one of 20 states that has approved marijuana use for medicinal purposes, though only Colorado and Washington state permit recreational marijuana sale and use. Bernstein points to industry pundits who predict that the regulated domestic cannabis industry will grow from its current $1.5 billion market to more than $20 billion by 2019. Marijuana revenues are expected to exceed $600 million this year in Colorado. Weedhire.com is a first step into the business for AnythingIT, which envisions several states approving the recreational use of marijuana in the next 10 to 15 years. The issue is already on the docket in New Jersey, where State Sen. Nicholas Scutari (D-Union) has introduced legislation that would further legalize marijuana for its taxing value. Gov. Chris Christie, however, has voiced his intention to veto any such bill. AnythingIT was founded in 1992 as a tech company that recycles outdated electronics into raw commodities like copper, glass and plastic. Last year it became the first Bergen County company awarded a Class D (Universal Waste) Recycling Facility permit, which allows the facility to shred materials onsite and de-manufacture consumer electronics. - --- MAP posted-by: Jo-D
