POT PROTESTERS TO BLAME FOR COSTS

Regarding the article Pot-shy protesters mark 4/20 (April
21).

Activist Eric Shepperd states the 20 police officers present at the
marijuana protest were a waste of taxpayers' money.

First, there were 100 people at Victoria Park ready to smoke a joint
at 4:20 p.m. on Sunday. That's a lot of people. You definitely need
police officers in attendance to make sure there are no problems.

Second, smoking marijuana is against the law unless used for medical
purposes.

Third, people have no business smoking a joint at Victoria Park since
this a community park. People enjoy its peaceful environment.

Therefore, Sheppard and the other protesters, not the police, are to
blame for taxpayers' money spent on police officers. Do us a favour
and don't come back, so we taxpayers can keep our money.

For all you kids out there, don't do drugs.
