At about 1 a.m. Sunday morning, an ambulance was called to Prime Minister Stephen Harper's official residence after an 18-year-old woman was found vomiting near the stately old mansion. She had apparently had too much to drink, allegedly at a party being held to mark the 18th birthday of the PM's son, Ben Harper, in which about 20 of his friends hung out by the pool. With very serious faces and tones of deep gravitas, CBC News commentators wondered how and why Prime Minister Harper and his wife Laureen weren't supervising their son's party. Just imagine, however, if that in fact was the case, and the PM and his wife insisted on monitoring their now adult son and his friends' every moment. Those same critics would be critical of the Harpers not allowing their children any privacy. Longtime Liberal MP Wayne Easter sent out a tweet that read: "Reportedly, "law & order" PM had a "severely intoxicated" under-age girl at 24 Sussex on w'end. Paramedics called. Where was +$23 mil RCMP?" Technically, he's right. In Ontario, the legal drinking age is 19, which is why so many Ottawa teens head over the river into Quebec to drink in legal establishments at 18. It is, however, permissible for parents to serve their minor children some alcohol, but the consent of a parent is required to serve unrelated minors. Meanwhile, Easter supported Liberal Leader Justin Trudeau after he admitted to smoking marijuana while working as an MP, which is against the law, and he has written a column urging the expansion of safe injection sites in Canada, where even underage teens are not dissuaded from shooting heroin into their veins. It's all rather funny in a rather nauseating way. - --- MAP posted-by: Matt
