This deal is just further proof that Gov. Mark Dayton and the police union leaders to which he is beholden have hijacked the democratic process. If Minnesotans had the opportunity to vote for medical marijuana, it would pass handily. The politicians are manipulating a system that does not allow for an initiative process. The popular support for medical marijuana in Minnesota far outweighs the popular support for Dayton, or any House member for that matter. This is truly a "compromise" that benefits only professional politicians and not patients at any reasonable scale. It allows for representatives and Dayton to say they reached a compromise in a campaign slogan. In fact, no patients who are suffering and being prescribed dangerous and addictive drugs instead will benefit. Marijuana is safer than alcohol and more beneficial than a myriad of harmful prescription drugs now readily available. A marijuana prescription and the proper administration thereof must be a decision made by each individual doctor with each individual patient. Jacob Smith, St. Cloud - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
