BOCC SEEKS COMMENTS ON MARIJUANA REGS

The La Plata County Commissioners are accepting public comments on
proposed land use code changes dealing with medical and recreational
(retail) marijuana businesses.

The commissioners had a special business meeting on May 6 for first
reading of the code amendment ordinance. They will have the second
reading and possible vote on the ordinance on June 10.

The code amendments would affect medical marijuana centers
(dispensaries), optional premises (grow operations), and infused
product manufacturing. The ordinance will rescind the ban on
dispensaries in unincorporated parts of the county.

The ordinance also will rescind the temporary ban on all retail
marijuana establishments. It will regulate and allow for the licensing
of all retail marijuana establishments authorized under Amendment 64,
which legalized possession and use of recreational marijuana for
adults in Colorado.

This will include retail stores, cultivation facilities, product
manufacturing, and testing facilities.

In addition, the ordinance includes restrictions on personal
cultivation of marijuana.
